What we do, step by step
Your passcode
For most repairs we have to be able to unlock your device, or we cannot test whether it works. You type the code in yourself, or you give it only for as long as the repair takes. We write it down nowhere, and afterwards you remove or change it — which we recommend anyway.
What a technician can and cannot see
To test, we open the camera, play a sound, call a test number and check that the screen responds everywhere. We go no further: we do not open messages, photo albums, mail or banking apps. That is not a promise about good intentions — it is simply not needed for the test.
How we test
After a repair we go through the same fixed list: screen and touch, front and rear camera, sound and microphone, charging, and the buttons. At your home we do it with you there, so you see it working yourself.
Backups and factory resets
Make a backup first. In most repairs your data simply stays where it is, but in a small number — mostly liquid damage and software that will no longer start — the device may have to be reset to factory settings. Then the data is gone, and we cannot get it back.
What we keep
From the repair itself we record which device it was, what we did and which part went in — that is your warranty record. Beyond that, your name, your address if we come to you, how to reach you, the language you want our answer in, and the IMEI or serial number if you entered one. Messages we send you about your repair we keep for a little over a year, so we can look up what was agreed if you make a warranty claim. Nothing of what is on your device.
Messages over WhatsApp
Our messages run over WhatsApp, because that is what people actually reply to. It also means some data ends up with WhatsApp. If you would rather it did not, say so — a call or an email works just as well.
